University’s budget will be $8.5m
The University of Canterbury’s total expenditure for next year is estimated to reach almost sB.sm.
The estimated expenditure assumes that all staffing positions will be filled, costing $747,306, but there will certainly be some vacancies. The estimates show a projected income of $8,355,269 leaving a deficit of $82,639 but this is expected to be reduced by staff vacancies. The major item of income, for the university is the Gov- ! eminent grant of $7,262,582: but tuition fees are estimated, to provide $825,437. extension studies fees $36,000. and rentals from endowment lands $39,000. Some major items of esti-i mated expenditure are the, research fund ($75,000),' maintenance ($300,000). clean-, ing and caretaking ($230,000), ] working equipment C5422,700)j and library ($305,000).
