Farms to be offered
(X.Z, Press Association’ WELLINGTON. Oct. 30.
The Government will offer seven sheep and three dairy farms for civilian settlement early next year to test the demand for farm purchases in present economic conditions, the Minister of Lands (Mr Maclntyre) has announced in a statement.
"These farming units In three districts are being made available to find out whether or not, in the light of today’s costs and terms for farming, units can be made available at a price that is economically attractive to civilian farmers." From this the Government would decide whether to continue normal civilian farm settlement or to make whatever amendments were necessary.
The three dairy units are part of the Pukehina Farm Settlement and two of the sheep units are at the Pukeora and Northern Boundary farm settlements, all in the Bay of Plenty. One of the other sheep units is at the Highlands Fann Settlement, Te Kuiti, and the remaining four are at the Moorlands Farm Settlement, South Canterbury. All would be advertised for sale early in 1973, Mr Maclntyre said.
