Tour claims by Thorne
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Copyright) OUDTSHOORN. Graham Thome, the former All Black three-quarter who now lives in South Africa, says next year’s Springbok tour of New Zealand will go ahead. He said this at a dinner in Oudtshoorn and claimed that only about 1 per cent of New Zealand’s population was against the Springboks. Thome said that on a visit to New Zealand last year he had taken the trouble to assess opinion, and found that the New Zealand people were positively in favour of the tour. He described Auckland University as the most radical Left-wing institution in the country, where he had been called “a fascist pig” and spat upon. “But the other chap lost two teeth,” he said.
