SALVAGE EXPERT

Hong Kong task (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Oct. 29. Captain J. A. Anderson, who is in charge of the salvage of the Wahine, has flown to Hong Kong where he has been engaged by a Japanese firm tackling the cutting up of the burnt-out liner, Queen Elizabeth. Captain Anderson, who has been working on the Wahine for nearly five years, is also a representative of Lloyds Register and it is in this capacity that he will be inspecting the liner. The Queen Elizabeth caught fire in Hong Kong earlier this year and capsized. Five independent fires broke out, and arson was later established as the cause. Captain Anderson was selected for the job because of his experience in removing the Wahine wreck. He left Wellington this week and his preliminary inspection will take about a week. The removal of the rest of the Wahine wreck will take about six months. There is only about 1000 tons left.
