Higher honey payment
(N.Z. Press Association)
DUNEDIN, Oct. 29.
Record world prices for honey have enabled the Honey Marketing Authority to declare a final payment to beekeepers of 18|c per lb for the season just ended—• 4c higher than last season. Mr R. F. Poole, of Alexandra, who was re-elected chairman of the authority last week in Auckland, announced the payment today. He said the 18|c would be paid on the highest grade of honey. Lower gradings would receive a correspondingly lower amount. The payment involved about 11,000 tons of export honey, half of the total production.
