Here to stay?
High hopes for things to come in tennis were held at Wilding Park yesterday by these three men (from left) Messrs H. Dillon, of Christchurch, M. C. Healey, of Wellington, and J. H. Lockington, of Auckland. In January, the two trophies for Australian interstate competition for under 19 teams, the Linton Cup for boys and the Wilson Cup for girls, will be played for in Christchurch.
New Zealand has been an entrant for several years but this will be the first time the tournament has been held in New Zealand.
The trophies have already arrived from Australia and Mr Dillon, who will manage the girls’ team, is shown with the Wilson Cup, while Mr Healey, deputy chairman of the management committee of the N.Z.L.T.A., “presents” the Linton Cup to Mr Lockington, who will manage the boys* team.
