TIMARU, Oct. 29

The New Democrat Party will contest the Timaru, South Canterbury and Oamaru seats in the General Election.

South Canterbury: Mr M. J. Hayes, aged 55, a farmerslaughterman, of Temuka, who for many years was a prominent member and election candidate of the Social Credit Political League. Timaru: Mr D. W. Armstrong, aged 39, a motor camp caretaker, of Timaru. Oamaru: Mr H. E. Mitchell, aged 29, an .'.ngineer, of Temuka.

Mr Armstrong increases to five the number of candidates for the Timaru seat, which has been held by Labour for 44 years, and by Sir Basil Arthur since 1962.
