T. & G. new business exceeds $539 million Mr B. B. O’Donnell, Manager for New Zealand of the T. and G. Mutual Life Society, announced today that during the financial year ended September 30,1972, the Society wrote $539,050,486 of new business (1971 — $443,870,540) representing an increase of 21 per cent or $95,179,946 over last year. The figures exclude sums assured under contracts for Temporary Assurance. The 1972 figure sets a new record for business written by the Society in any one year since its inception. Mr O’Donnell added that it was pleasing to see the growth pattern of the T. and G. continued again this year enabling the Society to keep pace with the ever increasing Life Assurance market in New Zealand. Details of the new business written are as follows:— Ordinary Assurance.—Policies with sums assured of $347,855,667 ($291,597,527) and Annuities of $14,745 ($11,947) per annum were issued. The premiums amounted to $8,297,943 ($7,439,102) per annum. Superannuation Assurance. —Policies with sums assured of $147,722,412 ($111,439,260) and Annuities of $92,391 ($155,474) per annum were issued with premiums of $5,467,400 ($4,143,098) per annum. Collector Assurance.—Policies with sums assured of $43,472,407 ($40,833,753) were issued with premiums of $1,582,147 ($1,543,585) per annum. Accident Insurance. — The new annual premiums including additional benefits added to assurances in the Life Department amounted to $734,376 ($674,174). The whole of the Society’s business is written in New Zealand, Australia and Papua :New Guinea. —Advt.
