GAZA MAYOR DISMISSED
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright)
TE LAVIV, Oct. 29
The municipal council of Gaza has announced that it regards itself as dismissed after the Mayor of Gaza’s dismissal by the military governor of the Gaza Strip.
The Mayor (Mr Rashed El-Shawwa) was removed from his post after he and the council refused to obey an order of the military government to supply municipal services to the Shatti refugee camp, said the Israel Ministry of Defence. The councillors met at the Mayor’s house and said afterwards that as they had also signed the letter refusing to supply the camp with services they regarded Mr ElShawwa’s dismissal as applying to them.
