Lavelle goes free
The United States Air Force has dismissed courtmartial charges against Major-General John Lavelle, who was relieved of command, demoted and retired after ordering illegal bombing strikes against North Vietnam. It said Lavelle’s relief from command of the 7th Air Force in Indo-China was sufficient punishment — Washington, Oct 29.
