Nursing education
Sir, —Does the Government really believe that, with tremendous advances in medical science, nursing education can remain unchanged since the days of Florence Nightingale? Three months ago a majority of Christchurch nurses wrote to their members or Parliament urging that nursing education be reviewed. Opposition members, answering, stated that the Opposition committee on health and social welfare was considering the question. No statement has been issued. Government members also avoided the issue by stating that inquiries were being made. No statement has been forthcoming. Can people afford to take such a blase attitude when standards and people are at stake? We as nurses urge the public to support our demands for urgent Government action on the matter. —Yours, etc., CONCERNED NURSE. October 26, 1972.
