Expansion

General Motors has announced plans to extend its Trentham assembly plant so as to permit a 33 per cent increase in assembly capacity. The plant, which was completed in 1967, now assembles Holden and Viva cars, and Bedford and Isuzu trucks. It is on an 87-acre site.
The expansion will increase the floor-area of the plant to 450,000 sq. ft, and will require most of the assembly lines to be reorganised. There will be a new truck assembly line to handle the larger Isuzu trucks, and the work is likely to be completed early in 1974.
