Return visit indicated

A strong hint that the Mayor of Christchurch (Mr N. G. Pickering) and Mrs Pickering would be invited to Adelaide early next year for the opening of that city’s Festival Hall was given by the Lord Mayor of Adelaide (Mr W. H. Hayes) at a City Council buffet luncheon for himself and Mrs Hayes yesterday. After speaking with pleasure of the time that he and his wife had had in Christchurch and of the ties between the sister cities, Adelaide and Christchurch, Mr Hayes said.. “I shall be taking back your warm regards to our city. Early next year there will be a great opportunity, I consider, for a reciprocal visit. We were delighted to be guests at the opening of Christchurch’s Town Hall, and I am sure that Adelaide city councillors would want to extend an invitation for your Mayor and Mayoress to be the guests of our city. “I shall say no more; we have to work out the details of such a visit,” said Mr Hayes.
