Vietnam war toll
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SAIGON, Sept. 28. South Vietnamese troop casualties rose sharply during last week, while North Vietnamese losses fell noticeably, a South Vietnamese military spokesman reported today. The South Vietnamese toll increased 42 per cent over the preceding week, the total number of dead being 631. About 2300 were wounded. North Vietnamese casualties fell by 37 per cent, the spokesman said. According to his statistics, 2497 North Vietnamese were killed, and 19 were captured.
