Harbour development
Sir,—V. D. Dove strongly objects to more houses being built at Governor’s Bay. I do not agree. Quite a number of people who work in Christchurch have their homes round Lyttelton Harbour. We have a section at Church Bay; some day we hope to be able to have a bach erected on this section. I would very much like to see more subdivisions round Governor’s Bay, Allandale, and Teddington, so that we may be able to have a water supply and also a sewer. We are not able to share the water supply or sewer service of Diamond Harbour, although when we bought the section we signed an agreement to go into the Lyttelton Borough in the future when it decided to take over. I have been told the reason for a lot of works being held up round the west and south of the harbour is that the Lyttelton Borough Council and the Mount Herbert County Council are not able to agree.—Yours, etc., B. R. DUNLOP. September 28, 1972.
