After two races recently, one at a middle distance, he should be close to peak for his test over 11 furlongs In the mein handicap race at Wingatul. Quayle also rode Elvln Spark yesterday, allowing him to aulrken on his second round on the No. 6 grass to brush over the last three furlongs In 39 25sec. Varuna, another member of G D. Lee’s team engaged nt Wingatul. aprlnted the last three furlongs of his work on the grass in 39 15sco.
Palley (G. Jackson) and Seaside Story (R. McCann) sprinted three furlongs on the grass in 38 4-ssec. Palley’s return to racing after a spell next month should bring a change of luck to her Rlccarton trainer. R. B. Taggart, who has been finding success elusive In the last few weeks. Rustlkhan (S. Andrews) was not asked for much and took 41 4-sscc for his three furlongs. He should not be the least of the chances In the Dunedin Jockey Club's second Members' Malden Stakes.
Guilty Party worked over a bit of ground and was Joined for the last three furlongs, run in 38 3-ssec, by his stablcmate, Watch man. >
On the plough Eastern Fiord (Miss Hill) and Royal Nip <U. Thomson) recorded 39 3-ssec for three furlongs G. W. Wright wide them at Wlngat. Hu will ride them at Wingatui.
