BEST BETS
Ashburton
RADIANT ROYAL (Race 1), b m, syrs, by Password—Vignon, trained at Belfast by C. S. Donald. Most impressive winner in maiden company at Methven last Saturday, and again at trials on the same course on Tuesday when she gave away starts of 36 yards and, pacing well within herself, returned 3:36 1-5 for the 13 furlongs. Looks much improved and should be capable of many wins in the next few weeks. Dunedin BEV LEIGH (Race 7) br m, syrs by Eastern Nip—Lorna Leigh, trained at Riccarton by B. S. Finlayson. One of Canterbury’s best sprinters on soft tracks, and will hare conditions to suit her tomorrow. Won 7f race on this course in June by 5J lengths. Her last-start sixth on a firm track against milers at Ashburton was a sound run. Otaki THUN (Race 5). B g by Fondu— Curzana. trained by £ Temperton, Awapuni. Close second behind Regal Ration, a subsequent placegetter, at Marton on September 16. If he makes the expected improvement will be hard to beat. Te Arolia PINOTAGE (Race 8). b g, 6yrs by Even Stevens—Joliet, trained by B. Kennedy, Cambridge. Impressive effort for fourth at Avondale on September 2. Will be harder to beat this time. Auckland GALLIO (Race 7), b h, svrs by Galcourt—Our Joy. Trained by E Fausett, Pukehoke Looked very unlucky when second in the corresponding race on the first night and with Double Cash out of the way should have a well-de-served win.
