CHANGES MADE
Canterbury XI named
Two changes have been made in the Canterbury Rugby team to play Wellington at Athletic Park tomorrow from the s.cle which successfully defended the Ranfurly Shield against Otago.
The prop. W. K. Bush, is not available because of injured ribs and he will be replaced, as he was for the latter stages of Wednesday’s game, by the burly Oxford forward, B. A. Thompson.
R. J. Knight, who was on the right wing on Wednesday, has been relegated to the reserves and M. P. Collins brought back into the team. Collins will play left wing and D. A. Hales will move to the right.
There is also some doubt about the half-back, L. J. Davis. He sustained a heavy blow on the thigh and yesterday was not moving freely. A decision will be made about him this morning. If he does withdraw, B. F. Elder will be his replacement and probably B. C. Cochrane will be added to the reserves. The team is:
W. F. McCormick; Collins, L A. Hurst, Hales; K. J. Gimblett, O. D Bruce; Davis; A. J. Wylliu (captain); S. E. G. Cron. H, H. Macdonald. R. J. Lockwood, J. K. Phillips; K. J. Tanner. R. W. Norton. Thompson".
Reserves: Elder, Knight; M. C. Ryan. G. B. Henderson.
Cricket.—A. Nicholson, aged 34, the Yorkshire team bowler, is “seriously ill'* in a Leeds hospital. A slight thrombosis in his right leg developed after he was injured last month playing in a benefit match for D. Wilson, a Yorkshire team-mate
Boxing.—A. Senin (Spain) retained his European bantamweight boxing title in La Spezia, Italv. when his Italian challenger, A. Sassarini retired in the sixth round of their title bout.
