MANY GOOD RISES ON QUIETER NEW ZEALAND MARKET
Trading was quieter on New Zealand stock exchanges yesterday. Second-line stock performed well but some of the leaders were lower an this gave the market an easier tone.
John Burns’ profit resulted in the price of the shares moving up 5c to 160 c. This was anticipated by a strong rise in the price of the stock — from 135 c in July to 165 c in mid-August. N.Z. Steel was steady on the report of the proposed steel price increase. The shares sold at 76c.
N.Z. Farmers’ Co-op. was 1c higher at 69c on the report of improved trading results. , Bridgevale, which has re-
ported a loss, was traded 2c higher at 50c. The stock has moved up a few cents lately, but apparently not on tne strength of its trading result. Group Rentals rose 5c to 370 c in one of its infrequent Among the falls Brierley. Midland, and Tappenden lost 5c each, while Brambles-Bur-nett was down 4c and Freightways 3c.
