Praying for rain
Only 1.59 inches of rain have fallin in Sydney since July 1, and if there is no more before the end of this month, it will be the city’s driest July-September quarter for 26 years. Parts of Queensland are so dry that the Premier (Mr Bjelke-Peter-sen) yesterday asked members’ churches in the state to pray for rain to help farmers whose crops and livestock are threatened. —Sydney, Sept. 27.
