Chathams Museum proposal

Sketch plans for a permanent museum at Waitangi, in the Chatham Islands, have been sent to Mr K. Wynne, of Wellington, who has arranged for a draughtsman to prepare building plans. The Chathams newsletter, recording this, says that Mr B. Norris, in charge of the Lyttelton museum, was a recent visitor. He presented the committee with a recording book, and early photographs. The newsletter says that an attempt is being made to recover a piece of shrapnelriddled planking from the motor . vessel Holmwood, which was sunk not far from the Chathams during the Second World War.
