Court-martial at Burnham
Lance-Corporal D. M. J. Carroll, of No. 3 Transport Company, Burnham, was reduced to the ranks and sentenced to 60 days detention by a district court-martial at Burnham Military Camp yesterday. He pleaded guilty to being absent without leave for 123 days. He surrendered to military police in the North Island. The sentence is subject to confirmation by the convening authority. The defending officer was Captain P. Crowther, R.N.Z.E., and the prosecuting officer Captain G. W. Kereama, R.N.Z.I.R. The court consisted of Major C. W. N. Stambridge, R.N.Z.A., Major J. Clark, R.N.Z.E.M.E., and Captain J. Fisher, R.N.Z.1.R., P. G. S. Penlington was the judge-advocate.
