Cycle tour lead lost

The New Zealander, L. A. Cooper, lost his lead on the second day of the 940mile cycling Tour of Tasmania. The new leader after the 146-mile stage was the Olympic representative, D. Allan (Victoria). He sprinted clear of the main bunch 80 miles from the finish. Cooper stayed with the main group. Cooper finished in over-all fifth place, and a fellow Kiwi, V. R. Richards, was sixth. Cooper is still well in the contest for the hill climb series, being third with 16 points. D. Wilson (Victoria), 18, and Allan, 17, lead this section.
After two days and 284 miles the placings were: Allan, 13hr 19min 12sec, 1; Wilson, 2min 31 sec behind, 2; R. Hine (Victoria), 3min 45sec behind, 3; R. Sansonetti (Victoria), 6min Bsec behind, 4; Cooper, 7min 30sec behind, 5; Richards, lOmin Isec behind, 6. Another New Zealander, K. Collins, is thirteenth, 17min 19sec behind the leader.
