K. R. Smith became the thirteenth bowler to qualify for a Christchurch centre gold star medallion when he shared in the victory of L. C. Lindley’s team in last season’s Easter fours tournament. The medallion, awarded to the winners of five centre titles, was introduced in the 1957-58 season and those who qualified then were P. G. Martin, J. R. Smith, S. J. Snedden. C. L. Spearman and G. Williams. Between 1950 and 1960 A. G. Kinvig, T. F. Chambers, C. Rowe, F. Baxendall and H. Deavoll extended the number to 10 and since then the “club” has been joined by
M. K. Boon (1963*3), W. R. Wilkinson 0970-71) and last seaspn, K. R. Smith.
