Materials must harmonise
For what is believed to be the first time, the Waimairi County Council, at its meeting last evening, took action under a town-planning ordinance that allows it to require harmony of design and matching building materials. Mr I. E. McDonald, 1 Bevington Street, sought permission to build a flat, separated from an existing flat by a carport, and in different materials. The council held that this would be unsatisfactory, and asked Mr McDonald to build the flat in matching materials to the existing flat, and to have a garage instead of a carport.
