CONFERENCE DEFENDED
(HZ. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Aug. 17. Allegations that the educational priorities conference was unrepresentative were criticised today by the Minister of Education (Mr Pickering). “To set the record straight it should be clearly stated that, as with the 'National Development Conference, representatives came from a wide section of the community, including educationalists and laymen, Maori and pakeha, young and ol ’, students and teachers,” he said. “Contributions from all delegates were welcomed at the group meetings and these came freely and even were uninhibited' Opinions have all been noted and will be considered by the working parties.”
