Banning of tours
Increasing pressure on the Town Hall workers to have the complex ready for open-j ing in six weeks has resulted in the banning of tour parties, until Sunday, September 24. “The management of the Town Hall is absolutely flat out with arrangements for the opening functions, and the contractors and others actually on the site have more than enough to cope with without interruptions by parties touring through the complex,” Mr H. G. Hay, chairman of the Town Hall Committee, said yesterday. On September 24, it is planned to have a day of conducted tours, arranged by the Lions Club.
“Requests are being received every day from individuals and organisations keen to see over the complex. Unless there is now some very good reason, such as a desire to hire the facilities, or to present an organ, it is just not possible to accede to these requests,” Mr Hay said.
"The pressure is really on for all those associated with the Town Hail,- and time is rapidly running out. There is only six weeks to the official opening.”
