Veterans on call
Some old footballers never retire; they simply fade away. But they remain on call in case their club has a vacancy to fill. Three former Canterbury stalwarts have each made a welcome reappearance in senior football in recent weeks—C. R. Hockley (New Brighton), D. C. Leary (University A), and L. S. McCaughan (MerivalePapanui). In each case they showed that experience can make up for a lack of youthful exuberance.
