GIFT FOR SOPRANO
(N.Z. Press Association) BISBORNE, July 21. A tape-recording of the voice of Kiri Te Kanawa when she was aged about seven or eight, will be given to her as a gift. The recording was the first made of Miss Te Kanawa’s voice, and was recorded by Mr M. R. Fry, of Gisborne, at a party to celebrate her parents’ wedding anniversary. Mr Fry will give the recording to Miss Te Kanawa before she leaves New Zealand after her concert tour. Miss Te Kanawa said she would be delighted to receive the tape, and she was sure her father and husband would like to hear it.
