Protesters’ impact
The Darfield-Kirwee protest committee on the Vietnam war is satisfied that it made an impact on the DarfieldKirwee community by its Mobilisation Day march on July 14. The organiser, Mrs H. Thrasher (Kirwee), who led the three marchers up and down the street for half an hour, said yesterday that the action had made people think about the war. One of the aims of the protest—the first of its kind seen at Darfield—was to prompt people into questioning Government decisions, she said. People were inclined to believe that because the Government was the Government, its decisions were always right, Mrs Thrasher said.
Mrs Thrasher, her husband, and a friend, Miss R. Gavlin, made up the march.
