Protester’s view

The deadlock in the Paris peace talks showed that the only solution would be for the United States and its allies to withdraw their armed forces from South Vietnam immediately, Mr T. E. Marshall, the co-ordinator of the Christchurch Mobilisation Committee against the War in Indo-China, said in a supplied statement. “Only then will the people of Vietnam be granted the fundamental right to determine their own future, free from outside interference,” Mr Marshall said. He said the withdrawal of troops would be the major demand of the national mobilisation against the war planned for Friday.

“Thousands of New Zealanders are expected to demonstrate their opposition to this continuing vicious war of aggression against the people of Indo-China, demanding an immediate cessation to the hostilities and an end to all New Zealand support for the American war effort,” he said.

Charity Rugby.— The Wellington senior club-Rugby champion, Petone, will play the top Hawke's Bay club, Taradale, at Napier on Sunday, July 23, to raise money for the milk biscuit appeal. All expenses are being guaranteed by the Liquor Industry Council.
