FACE PROTECTION
Motor-cycling in the depths of winter can be a miserable experience—if suitable equipment and clothing is not obtained. Adequate facial protection is essential but, because of import restrictions, this has not always been available. However, the situation is now much improved. There is a good range of helmet visors available and it is now possible to buy face masks, similar to those used extensively by speedway riders. TTiese are very effective at keeping out the cold and also protect the face completely from flying stones. The mask illustrated above is the Japanese Fuji .
Penguin, now available in Christchurch. This is relatively inexpensive and extremely good value because the lower section can be removed in a moment and the goggles retained for use in warmer weather. This particular model is also supplied with two spare lenses for the goggles. Use of the mask section need not be restricted to cold weather. Used in summer weather on highspeed trips, it can help reduce fatigue considerably by protecting the face from a constant blast of air.
