Special issue of journal A special 64-page issue of "Soil and Health,” the journal of the Soil Association of New Zealand, will be published about July 20 to coincide with National Conservation Week from July 28 to August 6, and will feature articles by ecologists, conservationists, biologists and scientists. The theme of the issue will be conservation and the environment, and the articles! deal with many aspects of urban, rural and marine pollution, offering alternatives,! and pointing to ways in which wastes can be recycled. Other articles deal with the indiscriminate use of insecticides, with the maintenance of soil fertility, and the health of crops, animals and man. The association has among its aims the use of farm and town wastes, the processing of sewage and garbage and its return as compost to the land, and the afforestation of waste and catchment land to prevent erosion. The association is a nonprofit making organisation, and hopes for good sales of the journal. Advance orders may be placed before July 16 with the association’s national secretary, Mr R. E. Betteridge, 27 Collins Street. Christchurch 2. The journal will cost 30c a copy.
