Price action criticised
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 12. The Government did not want stabilisation, said Mr T. M. McGuigan (Lab., Lyttelton) in Parliament today. During the debate on Ministerial replies to questions, Mr McGuigan said that 581 complaints had been received since April 1 under the stabilisation of prices regulations, but only 391 had been investigated, and no cases had been taken to court. The Government’s earlywarning system had failed, Mr McGuigan said. Its price freeze had failed, its price justification scheme had failed, and now its new price freeze had failed.
