Canadian Open golf

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) FORT ERIE (Ontario). G. Brewer shot a one-un-der-par 70 to win the Canadian Open golf tournament. The 40-year-old Brewer, who was forced to withdraw from the Masters tournament this year because of an ulcer ailment, finished the tournament at 275, nine under par for 72 holes. A left-hander, S. Adams, a “rookie” on the tour, shot a third round 66 to finish level with a fellow-American, D. Hill, for second place on 276 eight under on the par-71 course.

It was Brewer’s first victory for just on five years and won him $30,000.
