Kapuni gas output

(N.Z. Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH. July 11. The recent increased estimate of reserves in the Kapuni natural gas field will not increase the volume of liquefied petroleum gas to be produced from next year. A spokesman for the ShellBP and Todd petroleum mining consortium which intends to market the gas said today that the plant was designed to produce quantities relative to the likely demand for prooane—and later butane. No more gas would be produced than the market could absorb. Site works for the gas plant have begun and installation of equipment should start in a few weeks. The $253,960 contract requires the liquifying plant to be working to 50 per cent capacity (1100 tons a year) by November and to full capacity by next June.
