IMPROVEMENT CONTINUES ON NEW ZEALAND MARKET
The New Zealand sharemarket moved higher in more active trading again yesterday. Price changes were moderate and most of the trading was in the leaders, although buyers dominated the quotes on the Christchurch No. 2 board and only a few second-line stocks changed hands.
| Kaiapoi was heavily traded ■again with sales up to 39c— I a gain of 3c. There was a buy quote for Mosgiel of 97c lon the Christchurch board. I but no sellers came out. The Hast sale was made at 100 c on Friday. Alliance Textiles rose 1c to 67c and L.W.R. was steady at 172 c after Monday’s 3c loss. The tour companies were firm. Mount Cook rose 2c to 200 c, while Trans Holdings and Midland traded at steady prices. C.S.I. made a good recovery, rising to 130 c. The finance' companies were mixed. B.N.Z. Finance and General Finance improved 2c each, but Marac was down 3c. N.Z. Motor Bodies gained another 5c at 125 c. The retailers edged lower,
with D.I.C. down 5c at 245 c, while McKenzies at 88c and Smith and Brown at 193 c lost 2c each.
