FOOTWEAR SEMINAR

A footwear seminar which began in Christchurch last evening with lectures in the Horticultural Hall was well attended. Visits to factories and a tannery will be made today. The seminar is being organised by the Canterbury Retailers Association and supported by the Canterbury Manufacturers* Association.

Addresses last evening were given by Mr D. Ingram, managing-director of the British United Shoe Machinery Company, Ltd, on footwear consturction; Mr C. Ballantyne, a director of J. Ballantyne and Company, Ltd, on selling and promotion; and Mr R. Bennett, sales manager for W. Sutherland and Company, Ltd, on this season’s leather materials.
