Review of aid benefits

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 11. The Social Welfare Department has been instructed to continue to pay supplementary assistance to beneficaries on the previous basis, Parliament was told today. The Associate Minister of Social Welfare (Mr Highet), said the Government was reconsidering the position of social security beneficaries receiving supplementary assistance. As soon as a decision was made, he would announce it, the Minister said in reply to a question from Mr N. J. King (Lab., Birkenhead). The review would take a maximum of 10 days, Mr Highet said.
