New block for school
■ (From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON, July 10. Tenders will be called immediately for the construction of a senior-studies block [at Burnside High School, the Minister of Education (Mr Pickering) has advised the member of Parliament for Riccarton (Mr E. S. F. Holland) and the Burnside High School Board.
The school roll already exceeds 1500 and is expected to continue to increase for several years to come,” said Mr Pickering. “The new building will contain an advanced physics laboratory land an advanced chemistry i laboratory, with another exiperiments laboratory and the 'necessary specialist store--rooms and workshops.” The new single storey building will be linked by I covered-ways to a planned two-storey block. In addition to providing urgently ; needed space, the new accommodation will give the school further specialised teaching rooms required for senior students.
