Carpet-wool use rises

British wool consumption tn woven and tufted carpets rose from 88.2m1b to 95.9m1b In 1971, according to Board of Trade figures, the Wool Board reported. This rise of 8.7 per cent compares with a rise of 9 per cent for total carpet fibre consumption for the same period
The increasing use of wool tn tufting was particularly notable last year—it rose 61.9 per cent from 4.7m1b to 7.7mlb—but this represented only 3.6 per cent of manufacturers’ sales of tufted carpet
In the woven sector, wool consumption was up 5.7 per cent from 83.5m1b to 88.2m1b, representing 60 per cent of manufacturers’ sales of woven carpet.
