ROTORUA, July 3. A hunter was shot dead when he was mistaken for a deer in heavy bush at Kuratau, 12 miles west of Turangi, just before midday yesterday, said a police spokesman in Turangi. He was
Andrew Anaru Thompson, aged 38, married, the head shepherd on a farming block at Kuratau,
Mr Thompson was one of a party of four hunting pigs in dense scrub and bush country, said the police spokesman. He was accidentally shot in the body.
