PROTEST IN AUSTRALIA
French mails restricted (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) MELBOURNE, June 16. The Australian Amalgamated Postal Workers’ Union today placed a nationwide ban on the sorting and delivery of certain mail to and from France, in protest against the proposed French nuclear tests in the Pacific. The ban is directed at the French Government, and French shipping agencies and airlines. No mail will be sorted or delivered to French diplomatic offices, nor will mail posted to shipping agencies from France, and mail unloaded in Australia from planes of the French airlines.
