(N.Z. Press Assn. —Coftyright) LEICESTER, June 16. The former British prison escaper, John McVicar, now serving a 26-year sentence, was allowed 'out of prison yesterday to marry the woman who sheltered him during his 18 months on the run. McVicar was taken under heavy escort from a topsecurity prison in Leicester to a registry office to marry his common-law wife, Shirley, the mother of his son, aged six. McVicar, who was serving a sentence for armed robbery, conspiracy, and possession of firearms, escaped from Durham Prison im 1968. and was at large flor 18 months. Mrs McVicar later admitted sheltering him, and was placed on probation. Discussing her relationship with McVicar, Mrs MdVicar once said that every time they began courting seriously he was sent to prison.
