CAN-AM SERIES

Hulme wins first race (N.Z. Prett Attn.—Copyright) MOSPORT (Ontario). The New Zealander. D. Hulme, came from behind on Sunday to win the first race of the Canadian-American Challenge Cup series. His SUSI3,OOO victory on the 200-mile course preserved the reputation of the McLaren team in Can-Am races.

M. Donohue, the young American engineer who won the Indianapolis 500 last month, led for the first 18 laps. Then he had to go into the pits when his PorscheAudi developed turbo-charger trouble. He later twice broke the lap record trying to recapture the lead but only managed to finish second. P. Revson (McLaren) took the lead after Donohue stopped for repairs, but he, too, had to pull into the pits with mechanical trouble on the seventy-eighth lap, and finished third.
