French still unbeaten
(!t.Z Press ARMIDALE (New South Wales). France had its sixth successive victory of its ninematch tour of Australia yesterday when it beat a spirited New South Wales Country team, 25-15, scoring three tries to one.
The tourists rested many of their best players in readiness for the first test against Australia on Saturday, but were still too strong for the country team.
The giant test second-row forwards, A. Estave and C. Spanghero, gave the French a feast of the ball from the line-outs. France led, 15-3, at half-
France’s third try was set up by the tiny half-back, J. Fouroux, who created a threeman overlap for J. C. Skrela, usually a breakaway, but playing on the wing, to score. The country team full-back kicked 11 of his team’s points.
