U.E. changes
The method of qualifying for university entrance will be changed to a single-sub-ject structure in 1974, said the chairman of the Universities Entrance Board (Sir Alan Danks). At present, a candidate who has not been accredited, or who has not passed the examination, fails his aggregate of subjects as a whole, even though he might have reached a pass level in individual subjects. The change means that, from 1974, credits gained in individual subjects can be recognised, although passes in English and at least three other subjects will still be required for entrance to a university.
