Ombudsman’s powers
(N.Z. Preu AMoeiationi WELLINGTON, April 27. The Prime Minister (Mr Marshall) held a 50-minute discussion with the Ombudsman (Sir Guy Powles) today over the possible extension of his powers. Neither had any comment to make after the meeting. The Minister of Local Government (Mr Highet) told the Municipal Association recently that the Government was considering an extension of the Ombudsman’s powers to cover local authority affairs.
