Study of abortion law urged
Catholic women should be familiar with New Zealand’s law on abortion, Mrs P. Hardy, re-elected president of the Catholic Women’s League of the Christchurch diocese, told delegates at the annual conference yesterday after noon.
They could not argue on such an issue if they were not informed, said Mrs Hardy. Catholic women
should be well aware of the 1 law, which was unemotional. She urged members to join the Society for the Protec- . tion of the Unborn Child, and , to express their opinions in ; letters to their local members , of Parliament. They should also work to strengthen family life on a , personal level. The recent establishment of ‘ the Catholic Family Life Centre in Christchurch, being staffed by the Catholic Nurses’ Guild and Catholic doctors, was a positive move, said Mrs Hardy. Retirement (From Our Own Reporter) TIMARU. Miss M. Robinson has retired after 24 years as a Public Health Nurse, the last 15 years in Timaru. A -egistered nurse with a Diploma of Public Health and Health Education and a Plunket certificate, Miss Robinson completed her general training at Wellington Hospital and her Plunket training at Dunedin. Life member appointed Mrs Alice Mullins was appointed a diocesan life member of the Catholic Women’s League at yesterday’s annual meeting in Christchurch. She was given the award in "recognition of her valued service to the league’s mission work from its inception Ito the present day.”
