BEST BETS
Forbury MARAMA BOY (Race »). b g 3yrs, by Local Light— HestUng. trained at Templeton by J. W. Smolensk!. Promising young pacer trying for his fourth successive win. Latest success was achieved witli a minimum of effort at Methven last Saturday and with a reasonable run lie should be too good for this field. Westport JUST ACE (Race 3). B g 4yrs by Just Whistle—-Galicia. Trained by R. B. Taggart, RiccarBrilliant front-runner which will be suited by turning track. Won in much harder competition at Nelson on Monday. Wairio DRUM CALL (Race 1). B g, Byrs by Bellborough — Centura, trained by R. Cairns at Wingatui. Appeals as the best prospect or the day. After winning at Riverton at Easter he gave a dashing front-running display to win at Wingatui on Tuesday, and against much similar opposition looks to have a second-to-none chance. Avondale SIR GALLIVANT (Race 2). Ch g, by Hasty Cloud—Pam Sue. Trained by W. Flower, Takanini. , ~ . Impressive winner at his only two starts. Is better drawn tomorrow than last week and will again be hard to beat. Woodville DOWNPATRICK (Race 4). B g 4yrs by Oakville—Nizorita, trained by E. Roplha at Woodville. Though he has not raced since June, Downpatrick has a moderate field opposing him In the Gaisford Steeples. He comes from a stable which produces fresh runnel's well forward, and looks an excellent bet.
